AT-HOME SPA EVENING

Heaven Founder Deborah Mitchell offers tip on how to replicate a salon-worthy facial in the comfort of your own home.

I have chatted with many of clients over the last couple of weeks, either over the phone or in video calls, and they all tell me how much they are missing their weekly spa visits. It’s easy to see why; whether it’s a skin-saving facial or a regular peel, these little treats make us not only look great but feel great too. Thankfully, self-isolation can still mean self-indulgence, so here are my tips for a beautiful night in.

Firstly tell the family that you need some guilt-free “me time”, an hour or so away from the bustle of kids, chores and endless food prep where you can put yourself first. I always start my night-time facial about an hour before I go to bed because it not only prepares me for a good sleep but it gives me the time to really take care of my skin. I light a couple of my favourite Heaven candles to create the perfect ambiance to rest and relax.

Although I’m not wearing any makeup at the moment, I always start with a thorough cleanse to remove the build-up of daily dirt and grime. I use a cream cleanser to ensure the oily residues can be removed from deep in the pores. Because it contains organic jojoba my Hydro Cleansing Milk acts like a dirt magnet and hydrates skin while removing daily pollutants. I rinse this off with the anti-ageing Ella Jane Renew Face Wipe which I use with hot water if I have stubborn mascara.

Once my face is cleansed I exfoliate with my Bee Peel because even though I’m not going out and meeting people I still want my skin to look its best. At the moment I have some stubborn pigment on my face, so using this regularly – for a minute or two each time – works to help that fade. Because it contains ABEETOXIN®, organic coconut and raw cane sugar, it resurfaces and evens out tone while minimising the visibility of lines, scars, dark spots, blemishes and enlarged pores.

To effectively remove the peel I use Cleanse and Foam to leave my skin feeling soft and silky smooth. I realised that I’m particularly drawn to its sweet orange and neroli scent at the moment; I think the freshness reminds me of summer and makes me feel secure and hopeful.

Following this I apply my Chamomile Hydrogel which contains anti-inflammatory Echinacea and organic witch hazel to normalise the skin and reduces redness, while delicate chamomile helps me relax. Then I apply a few drops of my LIA Oil Serum to my skin which gives my broken veins a good clear out and makes my complexion look much more even.

To finish off my night prep I use the wonderful Divine Cream; it’s packed with natural sources of vitamin C which help increase collagen and elastin levels for a more youthful appearance. As I mentioned, I’m removing pigmentation on my skin and this works a treat love and smells fabulous too.

Finally I add a thin layer of my innovative Black Bee Venom Mask to help relax a few of those tell-tale fine lines (the ones that even Botox wouldn’t shift!). I love how it firms and lifts and leaves my skin feeling supple and looking more useful. If I’m feeling the need for a bit of extra skincare TLC, I’ll use my WillowBee Cleanse & Mask once a week to close open pores and help heal breakout scars.
